MEPCO Internship Program 2026 Multan Electric Power Company Paid Traineeship

MEPCO Internship Program is not a typical ‘tea-fetching’ role, it is a high level of exposure and hands on training initiative designed to turn fresh graduates into industry ready professionals. The job market in Pakistan is competitive, but nothing fills the gap between academic theory and professional reality better than organised internship with a leading public service service provider.

MEPCO is an application serving over 7 million consumers in Southern Punjab region, accountable for everything from power distribution to grid management to customer relations. You will be trained by licensed engineers, experienced accounts officers and HR generalists running one of Pakistan’s most massive workforces. Moreover, MEPCO changed its stipend structure in 2026 to remain viable with WAPDA and other GENCOs. Third, many former interns have been hired on contract or permanent positions through lateral hiring. This program has a high conversion rate.

If you are an undergraduate or a fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BSc, BBA, MBA, MCS, B.Com, etc.) then this is your gateway to the energy industry. Vacancies are available in many circles (Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan) so you can get a placement near your home district. This is not a certificate, it is a 6 to 12 per month paid interview for a permanent job.

Expert Tips to Increase Your Selection Chances

  • Apply within first 3 days – MEPCO uses a rolling shortlist. Early applicants get more interview slots.
  • Tailor your CV to energy keywords – Use words like “load management,” “distribution transformer,” “SAP,” “consumer billing,” “OMC,” “safety protocols”.
  • Get a recommendation from a WAPDA/MEPCO employee – A reference letter (even informal) on plain paper with a phone number works wonders in the HR screening.
  • Prepare a “one-minute impact pitch” – In the interview, say: “In my final year project, I simulated a 132kV grid fault reduction model which can save MEPCO 5% of line losses.” That gets attention.
  • Physically visit the MEPCO HR office in Multan – Drop a hard copy of your application with a sticky note on top: “Request for internship – ready to join immediately.” It shows sincerity.

Can I apply if I have a 2nd division (50%) in Matric?

No. MEPCO requires at least 55% in Matric and 60% in Bachelor’s for non-engineering roles. For engineers, 60% in both.

Is this internship paid or unpaid?

Fully paid. Stipend ranges from PKR 25,000 to 40,000 per month.

Can a final-year student apply?

Yes but you must provide a “Hope Certificate” from your university head that you will complete your degree by August 2026.

Is accommodation provided?

No. MEPCO does not provide hostel accommodation for interns. However, local candidates are preferred.

How long after the internship can I get a permanent job?

MEPCO announces Junior Engineer (BPS-17) and Assistant Director (BPS-17) exams every 2 years. Internship completion gives you 5 bonus marks in the interview.
